Good morning America

That I did always love,
I bring thee proof:
That till I loved
I did not love enough.

That I shall love away,
I offer thee
That love is life,
And life hath immortality.

This, dost though doubt, sweet?
Then I have
Nothing to show
But Calvary.

4am

I should be in bed.
But before I go I'll leave you with some words written by Emily Dickinson.

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life from aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

Goodnight.

Back in Black

And so.....I'm back after about a months hiatus.

The last 30 days has had it's ups and downs. I have grown and learned a bunch, but let's just say I'm glad to be on the other side of it.

I'll be in the UK with my family for the next month. I'm currently sitting next to my Dad watching the MLB All Star game and I'm heavily jet lagged so writing a coherent blog is a bit of a challenge at the moment.

I'll be in touch :)

When all else fails.

Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.

I've been running in the morning for the last two days. It's been great. I go through the rest of my day with a clear head and a functioning metabolism. What more can a guy ask for?

Learning to love...

I was reading in John 13 this morning.

“Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. He now showed the disciples the full extent of his love. So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel he had around him.”

John 13:1, 4-5

The main thing that jumped out at me was that the full extent of Jesus’ love was to wash His disciples feet. What does that tell me? The greatest way to show love is to serve when there is no obligation. These were the guys that Jesus had been discipiling and pouring into since the start of His ministry. If anything they owed Him a service!

If the full extent of of the most perfect love the world has ever seen came in the form of servant hood, then that tells me a lot on how I'm supposed to go about showing love.

Saying those three words is great, but I need to start showing them too.
